About Us
The “Minnesota Boys of ’61″ organization is a tax exempt, Non Profit 501(c)3 corporation. It is made up of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the job of erecting a significant memorial to honor and perpetuate the memory of the 24,000+ Minnesota citizen soldiers who stepped forward and volunteered during the years 1861-1866 to protect and preserve freedom, their state and Union.
We wish to complete the project during the 150th anniversary years of 2011 – 2016.
All of our board and men and women involved in this project, on the planning level, are volunteers and accept no compensation for the work they do, which can be daunting at times. We wish to step forward and volunteer “as they did 150 years ago” to complete the job at hand and make this memorial a reality.
“Minnesota Boys of ’61″ Memorial Committee meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 pm at the American Legion #1776 in Apple Valley, Minnesota. The address is 14521 Granada Drive, Apple Valley, MN 55124. The public is invited to attend these meetings. Please contact one of the board members if planning to attend on the rare ocassion the meeting may have moved.
